ROOTED IN NEPAL. OPEN TO THE WORLD.

A Nepalese lens on a world of food

Nepalese Foodie begins with Nepal, but it has never been the limit of what I want to explore. This journal is about my life with food: the cuisines I encounter, the people I connect with and the different ways we understand hospitality.

I want it to have room for Indian, Japanese, Korean and Turkish food, alongside Nepali cooking and the many other cuisines that become part of my experience. A cuisine is an invitation to learn. The story becomes personal through the people who introduce me to it.

The people between the places

My involvement in the food and hospitality industry has connected me with people from different cultural backgrounds. Those friendships matter to this journal. I want to write about the conversations and experiences that help me understand another person’s food, and about what those encounters bring into my own thinking.

Some connections lead back to Nepal. Others reveal something unfamiliar that deserves to be understood on its own terms. I want to make space for both. A resemblance between two dishes can begin a question; it does not automatically make them the same tradition.

A journal with an open table

This is the perspective I want to bring to Nepalese Foodie: rooted in where I grew up, attentive to the world I have encountered, and open to what I have yet to learn. Food, friendship, travel and work all belong in that story.

The individual stories will come from real encounters and memories. For now, this is my invitation: join me as I bring those threads together.

A new reflection adapted from Prem’s account and editorial direction, September 2026. Specific visits, dishes and named friendships will be added from their original records.
