For privacy enquiries, send a private message to @nepalesefoodiegb on Instagram or Nepalese Foodie on Facebook. Please do not post private information in public comments. Those services process messages under their own privacy policies.
When you browse
The website is delivered through Amazon Web Services (AWS), using storage in London and a global content delivery network. To deliver pages and protect its services, the infrastructure processes technical details such as your IP address, browser information, requested files and request time. A visit does not require an account or payment.
The current website has no contact form, newsletter signup, public comments, advertising scripts or audience analytics added by Nepalese Foodie. Journal search and article text-size controls run in your browser. Search terms are not submitted to a search service, and the text-size choice is not saved to browser storage. Fonts and images are served with the website.
When you contact me
If you send a message, I receive the profile information and content you choose to share. I use it to reply, investigate corrections or concerns, and handle privacy requests. You choose whether to contact me, but I may need enough information to understand and answer your request. Please avoid sending sensitive information unless it is necessary.
Why information is used
I rely on legitimate interests to operate a reliable journal, respond to ordinary enquiries and protect the site from misuse. These interests are considered alongside your rights. Where processing is required by law, such as responding to an applicable privacy request, I rely on that legal obligation.
Cookies and future advertising
The current journal does not set advertising or analytics cookies. Hosting services may process technical information for delivery and security.
Google AdSense is being considered for this website, but an advertising script is not currently installed. Before advertising or optional tracking is enabled, this policy will be updated to explain the providers, information used, retention and available choices. Where consent is required, the relevant technologies will only be enabled with that consent, with a way to revisit the choice.
Sharing and international processing
AWS processes technical information to host and deliver the site. If you contact me through Instagram or Facebook, Meta also processes information through those services. Personal information may be disclosed where required by law or necessary to establish or defend legal rights. Links to my other projects do not themselves transfer your correspondence to those businesses.
The delivery network and external social platforms operate internationally, so processing can take place outside the UK, including in the United States. AWS provides contractual data-protection and transfer provisions, including standard contractual clauses and UK provisions where applicable. You can read its data-protection information and privacy notice, or contact me for information about the safeguards relevant to this website. Social-platform processing and transfer information is available in Meta’s privacy policy.
Retention
I keep correspondence while it is needed to answer an enquiry, resolve a complaint or meet an applicable legal requirement. The criteria are whether the matter remains open, whether the information is still relevant, and whether a legal obligation or dispute requires it to be kept. Information no longer needed is deleted from records I control. Providers may retain their own operational or security records under their policies; I do not control every copy held by a social platform.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal information, restrict its use, or receive a portable copy where that right applies. Contact me through the private-message links above. I may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify your identity.
You can object to processing based on legitimate interests. If processing is introduced on the basis of consent, you will be able to withdraw that consent without affecting earlier lawful processing.
You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office. You do not have to contact me first to exercise that right.
Other websites and updates
External links take you to services with their own privacy practices. This policy covers Nepalese Foodie, not those services. I will update this page when the journal’s practices change and show the revised date here.
