The editorial promise

About this journal

I’m Prem Prasad Devkota, originally from Gorkha, Nepal, and now living in the United Kingdom. Hospitality has been part of my working life for more than twenty years, through running businesses, developing ideas and opening venues.

Nepalese Foodie is my personal journal about food, culture, hospitality and the life surrounding them. It is a place to share memories, reflect on what the work has taught me, and explore what I want to build differently while making room for family, health and everyday life.

I’m writing as I go, with questions as well as experience. You’re welcome at the table.

From Gorkha to a shared table.

Stories with a source

The opening articles in this edition have been prepared with AI assistance from Prem’s supplied writing and conversations. They are new adaptations and reflections. Quoted archive text is identified; no restaurant visit, named friendship or interview has been invented.

Recovered original writing, new reflections and remembered experiences are kept distinct. The date of an experience does not substitute for the date a new article was written. Older accounts do not describe the current condition of a restaurant or its menu.

People and pictures

My views and reflections are personal. I use photographs alongside clearly identified AI illustrations to express experiences, memories and feelings. Read my editorial approach and imagery statement.

Personal stories deserve care. Photographs, quotations and conversations should have clear permission and attribution. Any commercial connection with a venue belongs close to the relevant story.

The laptop photograph is supplied by Prem. The shared-table artwork is an AI-generated editorial illustration, not a photograph of a meal, friend or event from his life.
