Why I’m returning to Nepalese Foodie

Nepalese Foodie is a project I am returning to. The records I have found place its beginnings in 2016, and a photograph of the earlier website brings that period back into view.

The earlier Nepalese Foodie website photographed on a laptop at a restaurant table.

On the laptop screen, the name is set above a collection of food photographs. The old tagline reads “Innovating Nepalese Food”. The navigation runs Food, Recipe, Restaurant Reviews, Contact, About Me and About the Blog, and the featured posts are Royal Gorkha Thali, Royal Gorkha Appetizer and Royal Gurkha Garden Canapes. The photograph’s own camera data records 6 March 2017 at 15:50, taken on an iPhone 7 Plus, with location data placing it in Burton upon Trent.

What survives

There is also an introductory document dated September 2016. It describes my upbringing in Gorkha, my interest in spices and cooking, and my involvement in hospitality. Alongside it, surviving Blogger records under The Zest of Hospitality point to another part of the writing’s history.

I had changed the blog’s name during a period when I did not have the energy to continue with Nepalese Foodie. Returning to it now means acknowledging that history and giving the material that survives a place alongside what I write next.

The next chapter

The scope is personal and open. It includes Nepali food and heritage, but also the different cuisines, cultures and friendships that connect through my life in hospitality. I want to bring those experiences together rather than leave them scattered across years and platforms.

Some future entries will be recovered originals. Others will be memories written down today. The distinction matters: an old experience can inspire a new story without pretending the story was published years ago.

This journal is a home for that continuing work. The design can change. The passion that brought me to it remains part of its foundation.

Based on Prem’s account, the supplied April 2016 domain-order record, September 2016 document, Blogger dashboard and website photograph. The photograph’s embedded camera data independently confirms the date, time and location. Continuous publication since 2016 is not claimed.
